Renault Roadshow to wow Russian crowds

26 August 2009

Renault F1 will be showcasing the sights and sounds of Formula One cars when Romain Grosjean and demonstration driver Adam Khan perform in front of spectators in Russia's Sochi city next month. The venue, in the region of Krasnodar, will be able to enjoy its first taste of F1 action on Friday 18 September.

Running in collaboration with Russian mobile phone operator MegaFon, partner of the French team, the event will take place with the support of Sochi City Government, coinciding with the Sochi Economic Forum, chaired by Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, and visited by President Dmitry Medvedev. The event will also further establish the city which will be hosting the 2014 Winter Olympic games.

"Our Roadshow events continue to take the sport to the public and offer fans the chance to get close to the team and experience Formula One in a friendly and relaxed environment," explained Renault managing director Flavio Briatore. "The decision to stage this event in Sochi, which is undergoing such massive transformation as it readies for the 2014 Winter Olympics, is the ideal way to showcase the unique atmosphere of Formula One within a new yet unexplored market where we know there to be significant interest in our sport."

"Renault's Roadshow events are always special and the chance to drive an F1 car on the streets of Sochi is something I'm really looking forward to," rookie F1 racer Grosjean added. "I will do my best to put on a spectacular show for the fans and give a few lucky people the drive of a lifetime."
