Jaime Alguersuari was the fourth unfortunate victim to be out of contention barely five corners into the Belgian Grand Prix. The Toro Rosso driver was the final of the four cars to be involved in the accident which also separated Jenson Button, Romain Grosjean and World Champion Lewis Hamilton from the action.
With championship leader Button having been involved in a collision with Grosjean's Renault at Les Combes corner, the McLaren and Toro Rosso were very much innocent victims in somebody else's accident. "My race didn't last long," Jaime said after his first F1 retirement.

"These things happen in racing and you just have to accept it. My start was not too bad and the car seemed to be going well. Jenson spun and Hamilton had to move to the left to avoid him, moving on to the part of the track that I was on. We collided and my car was too damaged for me to continue. Hopefully we can do better in the coming races."
The incident is currently under investigation by race stewards, with any subsequent punishments being 10-place grid drops at Monza in a fortnight's time.
