Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone has said that he expects to see the sport travel to India for the first time in 2011. According to Ecclestone, the organisers of the race will start building the track in October with the Englishman set to lay the foundation stone later in the month.
Ecclestone told PTI: "It's been on for a long time but there's never been any doubt, the contract was signed long time back. We are waiting for the circuit to be constructed. The foundation stone would be laid in late October and I will be in India to lay the foundation stone."
Force India is the only Indian team to ever compete in Formula One from the country which currently holds the second largest population in the world.
