Engine manufacturer Cosworth has announced that Mark Gallagher has joined the Northampton company ahead of an important year in 2010. The legendary name will return to the Formula One grid powering the sport's three new teams next season as Gallagher joins as leader of the group's Formula One Business Unit.
After three seasons out of F1, Cosworth will make its return next year by developing the powerplants for the new Campos, Manor and USF1 teams. Gallagher brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked in Formula One, the World Rally Championship and A1 Grand Prix since the early 1980s.
"The opportunity to lead Cosworth's Formula One operations is one that I am relishing," commented Gallagher, who will be present at races and be fully responsible for the coordination of Cosworth with its customers.

"As we start an exciting new chapter in the history of Cosworth's contribution to Formula One, my focus will be on ensuring that the technical excellence inherent in our products and the trackside support we will provide will play a significant role in enabling our customers to achieve their goals."
"I am very pleased that Mark has agreed to join Cosworth," added Tim Routsis, Cosworth Chief Executive. "Mark is the ideal man to head up Cosworth's Formula One operation and I'm confident he will play a major role in Cosworth's success as our engines return to the grid in 2010."
Having been part of the Jordan team from 1995, Gallagher later moved to Jaguar and has recently enjoyed success with States Grand Prix Ltd; the company, co-founded by the Briton, steered Adam Carroll and A1 Team Ireland to last season's A1GP title.
