Trulli all set for home race

07 September 2009

Jarno Trulli will return to Monza and his home Grand Prix this weekend. Since making his Formula One debut in 1997, the Toyota driver has been the unfortunate victim of bad luck at most races on the track although the Pescara driver hopes to make the most of home support in 2009.

The majority of the Tifosi will be out to cheer on the Ferrari cars this weekend, not least their latest recruit - Roman Giancarlo Fisichella - although a total of three Italians will be racing as Vitantonio Liuzzi takes the reigns at Force India. Despite generally poor results according to the record books, Trulli is no slouch at Monza as his 2002 drive proved - when making his way to fourth place from the back of the grid for Renault.

"It is always a great occasion for me to be racing in front of the Italian fans and I really love the atmosphere at Monza," the Azzurro man said. "Of course, this is a home race for me so I have a lot of supporters in the grandstands and I really enjoy competing in front of such passionate fans; it would mean a lot to me to achieve a strong result in this race and I will be doing everything I can to do that."

Toyota's form has been more unpredictable that anything else this year; can consistency find a place in the Japanese team between now and the end of the season? "It was very encouraging in Belgium to start on the front row and hopefully this is a sign that we are now able to get the full potential out of the car in qualifying," Trulli continued. "I was unlucky in the race but I enjoyed the chance to fight at the front and I hope to be able to do that again in Italy.

"Our car looked quite strong at Spa and there will be a few changes for this weekend too; I am sure the competition will be very tight but we have the chance to get back in the points - Monza would be the perfect place to return to form so I am ready for the challenge."
