Gearbox change for Alguersuari

12 September 2009 / Results / Photos

Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari has officially received a 5-place grid drop following a gearbox change at Monza after the Faenza team was forced to replace the broken unit before qualifying.

FIA technical regulations state that gearboxes must last for four race weekends before the component is changed.

Alguersuari's gearbox had not lasted for this amount of time although the penalty imposed on the Spaniard makes no difference to his grid position after qualifying 20th and last in Italy on Saturday.
