Jaime Alguersuari retired from his second consecutive race in Italy to bring his non-finishes to fifty percent from his four races so far. The Spaniard pulled into the Toro Rosso garage on the twentieth lap of the Italian Grand Prix to end, not a chance for points, but a further opportunity to adapt to Formula One.
Having made his debut in Hungary and going on to finish in the European Grand Prix as well, Barcelona's Alguersuari has now failed to complete the distances at both Spa and Monza. "I started from the pits, so at least I kept out of the trouble on the opening lap," he said, having had changes made to the car after qualifying.
"After that, my race was going okay and I was up behind (team-mate) Buemi but then I had a gearbox problem, which caused my retirement. I'd also had some other troubles on Friday and when a weekend starts badly it often ends badly. I'm very disappointed not to finish, as it is very important for me to do as many kilometres in the car as possible."
