Barrichello happy for all concerned

An overjoyed Rubens Barrichello expressed his gratitude clearly after winning the Italian Grand Prix for the third time. The Brazilian, in masterly fashion, won Monza's race from fifth on the grid on Sunday to close Jenson Button's championship-leading margin to fourteen points.

Having clinched his first 2009 race win in Valencia three weeks ago, the disappointment of a seventh place finish in Belgium was put to the back of Barrichello's mind by crossing the finish line comfortably ahead in Italy.

"It feel great," Rubens said in the post-race press conference. ""Like I said on the lap after I got the chequered flag, I have no words; I had a tough night, as we didn't know about the gearbox - this and that." The Paulista faced a 5-place grid drop for a gearbox change but elected not to replace the part.

"It was great to do a good start," he continued, having bogged down almost to a standstill on no less than three occasions this year. "Kovalainen was coming up quite fast with the power button (KERS) and I had to defend myself and went wide, so it was a bit tough but it was great first lap and it made my race."

Having not put a wheel wrong all afternoon to stay within the required margin of the two-stopping Lewis Hamilton, Barrichello made sure his team colleagues received the recognition they deserve. "I must thank them for all of their efforts," he concluded. "The strategy was great and the work we did on Friday was fantastic so it is really good."
