Brawn demanding clean finish to season

Brawn GP Team Principal Ross Brawn was delighted to enjoy his team's first one-two result since Monaco on Sunday. Rubens Barrichello's Italian Grand Prix win was the Brazilian's third at the Milan track and his second of the 2009 season.

Although nothing is guaranteed until it's sealed in motor racing, Sunday's result at Monza places Brawn in an extremely strong position for both world titles this year. As Barrichello comfortably led home his team-mate, however, Button had compatriot and World Champion Lewis Hamilton only one and a half seconds behind entering the final lap.

"I think you could see that he was very tidy as Lewis was pushing him," Brawn explained to the BBC after Hamilton had crashed out. "Lewis was the one who was looking a little bit ragged and Jenson just looked very smooth."

Having looked to be off the pace in first practice, Ross never lost faith in his team this weekend. "It is always a little bit difficult to hold your nerve," he admitted. "On Friday, we were running 70 kilos (of fuel) and had just to hold on."

With Brawn now 40.5 points ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship, Button carries a 14-point lead over Barrichello to Singapore as battle is rejoined in a fortnight's time. "I just demand they do it fairly and openly," Ross added. "There may be situations which arise but everything's going be on the top of the table. They've got to do it sensibly - they're old enough!"
