Robert Kubica experienced a dramatic albeit short Italian Grand Prix as the Polish driver found himself involved in two incidents before retiring on Lap 16. After a strong fourth place finish in Belgium a fortnight ago, the Kraków man found himself limited to the confides of the paddock once again.
Kubica was off the race track just seconds after the illumination of the five red lights in Italy. "The start was very good," he said. "I think Webber didn't see me braking into corner one and he pushed me onto the grass; I wanted to come back on as soon as possible and was braking on the grass instead of the tarmac.

"I came back onto the track, hit Webber and unfortunately we touched again at Turn 4." As Webber spun out of the race and of contention, Robert continued to scrap with Webber's team-mate before being asked to pit by race stewards to due running a car with a damaged front wing.
Kubica retired into the BMW garage shortly after his first visit to the pits. "I managed to overtake Vettel but unfortunately I had an oil leak," he summed up.
More: I could do nothing, says Webber
