Alonso in Paris but Briatore unseen

21 September 2009 / Photos

Renault driver Fernando Alonso has attended the FIA's World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) hearing in Paris on Monday morning. The former double World Champion was seen arriving by the mass media although former Team Principal Flavio Briatore does not appear to be present.

With Briatore having been reported to be at the motorsport governing body's headquarters, the Italian - like ex-Executive Director of Engineering Pat Symonds - is not obliged to attend as neither man is now part of the Renault F1 operation, having left the Enstone outfit last Wednesday.

With the highly controversial 'Crashgate' saga due to come to a close shortly, a full exclusion from the World Championship is unlikely as both key players involved have now left the team. A large fine is the most likely punishment.

Stay tuned to GPUpdate.net for the latest happenings; more news is expected from the WMSC later in the afternoon.
