World Champion Lewis Hamilton believes that, contrary to popular belief, the career of Nelson Piquet Jr. may not be over and that the Brazilian could make a return to Formula One. The former Renault driver finished runner-up to Englishman Hamilton in the 2006 GP2 championship.

Having been involved but eventually handed no punishment in the ongoing 'Crashgate' scandal surrounding last year's Singapore Grand Prix, Hamilton briefly spoke of his fellow 24-year-old in the run-up to this year's night race in Marina Bay.
"He's a good driver and he's had a great career, so who knows," Hamilton said. "For sure, there are opportunities for him in the future and I can only wish him the best."
McLaren's Lewis went on to explain that, although he does expect to see the son of a former triple World Champion back in the sport, he would not be able to picture his own reaction to such a scenario. "Not really, because I've never gone through what he's going through," Hamilton continued, "but he's still very young, he's experienced and he'll take it in his stride."
