Massa's next step to recovery

25 September 2009

Felipe Massa announced on Thursday that he will begin the racing stage of his road to recovery in November by competing in his own annual karting event.

Massa has been sidelined from Formula One since the Hungarian Grand Prix and his horrific crash, since recovering in his native Brazil. The Paulista sees the karting event as a step forward in his recovery, according to Reuters.

"I'm going to take part again in the 'Challenge of the Stars'," he said. "They get the best drivers together from all (racing) categories of the world: Formula One, IndyCars, stock cars (Brazilian championship)."

The karting event in Brazil will be contested by, as well as Felipe himself, close friends and colleagues such as Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. The event will attract worldwide media attention during the F1 off-season and - on the weekend of 27-29 November - the world will look upon Massa's relative speed as he plans to return F1 testing in early 2010.
