P1 and a crash for Red Bull

Red Bull Racing had a typically mixed second practice session in Marina Bay on Friday night as Sebastian Vettel charged to the top of the timesheets ahead of Sunday's night race in Singapore. Team-mate Mark Webber could have held the spot himself, had it not been for a spin and collision with the pit wall.

Having set several fastest times, even Webber's early exit from the session couldn't prevent the Australian from dropping any lower than sixth on the day's final classification although an unforced error could prove costly for the team; with Vettel having no new engines left in stock and Webber therefore having to record more practice miles, a driving error saw the Queanbeyan man hit the wall with just under a full hour of practice time still remaining.

"I was pushing a little bit too hard in second practice," Mark admitted. "It was a bit slippery off-line and I went off into the last corner and into the pit wall, which ended my session. The car was going well up until then; I was quick and both Sebastian and I had pretty good practice sessions."

"We can see from the times that the track is a little bit slower here than it was last year, which is a shame because some of the faster corners are now not so quick, but overall the character has remained the same," added Vettel, who holds the best lap time of the weekend so far. "Overall, it was a good day for us and we look better here than we did at Monza."
