'Standard' first day for Toyota

One-lap specialist Jarno Trulli stayed out of trouble on a treacherously slippery Marina Bay circuit on Friday night. As all cars struggled to find grip due to a fine layer of construction dust sitting on the Singaporean track, the Italian finished the day with 16th and 13th fastest practice times to his name.

Surprisingly, only two cars found the wall in Singapore on Friday despite recent rain having washed dust onto the track following the setting up of the street event plus modifications to some areas. "It was a standard Friday session for me, where I worked to evaluate the tyres and setup," Pescara's Jarno reported back.

"We still have to improve the handling and the setup because the car didn't feel perfect for me; there was very little grip from the track, especially in the first session when the surface was extremely dusty." Team-mate Timo Glock achieved the Cologne team's quickest time to place eighth in the later session.
