With Buemi managing to enter Q2, the 20-year-old edged ahead of Jarno Trulli to enjoy a seventh row grid spot. "I'm quite happy as the session went smoothly and without mistakes," he said. "I got the most I could out of the car and I'm pleased to have got ahead of Trulli - I'm glad to finally be back in Q2, as it's been a long time."
Having described Saturday as the most difficult day of his motor racing career, teenager Alguersuari shone to qualify 17th on a technical street circuit for only his fourth Grand Prix. "We did quite well and we're getting faster," the Barcelona driver said. "I'm feeling more comfortable with the track every time I get into the car.
"This has been the hardest track I've driven apart from Macau - with it being street circuit, anything could happen tomorrow so hopefully can have a good race."
