Sutil expected more than Q1 knockout
26 September 2009 / Results / PhotosAdrian Sutil and Force India experienced a case of disappointment in Singapore on Saturday evening as the German was eliminated from qualifying at the earliest possible point. After achieving a career-best result of fourth in the Italian Grand Prix a fortnight ago, Sutil starts sixteenth in Marina Bay.
With Sutil 16th and team-mate Tonio Liuzzi 20th, Force India's pace was slower than most expected on a high-downforce configuration circuit. "As we can see, we're still very quick on the straights and on the high-speed circuits but here it's all about downforce," Adrian commented after qualifying.
However, Sutil does not believe that blame for the result can all be pointed in Force India's direction. "The field is very tight and, if you lose out a bit in the traffic, you are suddenly at the back; I lost some time on my fastest lap when Giancarlo (Fisichella) was in front of me in the middle sector," he added of his former team-mate.
