Toyota celebrated a fantastic result for the team in Singapore on Sunday as Timo Glock recorded a career best second place, finishing ahead of Fernando Alonso on the podium. Team0mate Jarno Trulli seemed to struggle and only managed to finish twelfth, so a rostrum finish helped boost morale within the Toyota camp.
Timo was given a lucky break when Mark Webber had to release Fernando Alonso for passing him illegally on the first lap, but in doing so released Glock into free air as Hamilton and an ultimately unlucky Rosberg pulled away in the early stages.
"I saw Alonso and Webber battling so I knew I had to get past them," the German explained. "I gave one-hundred percent and pushed as hard as possible."
Glock then admitted that, after the sole Safety Car and threat of another later on in the race, even he lost track of how he ended up on the podium. "The Option tyres (softer compound on offer, this weekend Super Soft) were good to push with but I didn't know what was going on until they (the team, over the radio) said that I was in P2!"
