Lewis Hamilton, winner of the second ever Formula One night race, was very happy with his performance and that of his team in Singapore and talked after the race of the strains and pressures on the Woking outfit.
"It's a tough race, the conditions are tricky," he said in the post-race press conference. "It's just corner, after corner, after corner and very bumpy - but it's a fantastic track, with a huge crowd."
Like many races of 2009, the first stint was very important for Lewis but, with a long-lasting fuel load, the pressure was minimal barring an incident with his McLaren-Mercedes' KERS. "I had a fault with KERS, so I had to disengage it," he reported, "but the team worked on it and it came back well.
"I think I've redeemed myself after the last race. I'm very happy." The Champion's final comments relate to the last-lap mistake which resulted in a crash at Monza.
