'I wish I did those laps in qualifying' - Button
27 September 2009 / Results / PhotosJenson Button recovered to a fortunate fifth place, one position ahead of team-mate Rubens Barrichello, in Sunday night's Singapore Grand Prix. Having endured a disastrous qualifying session on Saturday, the Brawn GP team fought back to pick up nine points in Marina Bay's night race.

With Barrichello well-placed for the majority of the evening to reduce Button's leading championship margin to 12 points, the leading cushion eventually increased in size to 15 as the Brazilian pitted early following Mark Webber's accident, anticipating a Safety Car which never came.
"It was a good day for us," Button, who finished inside the top five, told the BBC. "I'm happy to get fifth, which is four points, and pull one off Rubens and only lose one to Sebastian Vettel. It was a good race - I go to Japan very positive for the next race."
Button has good reason to be happy and can wrap up the Drivers' title next weekend, providing he scores five points or more than Barrichello at Suzuka. "I wish I did those laps in qualifying, that's the frustrating thing," Jenson added of his late-race defence. "It would have made life easier for me."
