Simultaneous retirement for Toro Rosso

Simultaneous retirement for Toro Rosso

Scuderia Toro Rosso retired both cars simultaneously in tonight's Singapore Grand Prix, just nine laps from the finish line. Both Red Bull outfits struggled with several issues, however brakes seemed to be the problem of the evening at the unique night race.

Jaime Alguersuari was retired with brake temperatures running very high, a problem which also ended the afternoon of Mark Webber in a more spectacular fashion as he spun off at Turn 1 in the sister team's car.

However, Toro Rosso stable mate Sébastian Buemi had a suspected gearbox problem which resulted in his car being called into the pits and being rolled back into the garage in unison with that of Alguersuari.

"I am very disappointed that we had reliability problems in a race where we might have had a good result," Switzerland's Buemi said. "I was behind Kimi (Räikkönen) and pushing hard until my second stop when we had a big problem, as no fuel went in, and I had to come in again. Finally I had an issue with the gearbox which meant I had to stop."

"It would have been difficult for me to do better today, as conditions in the race - in terms of the track and the heat - were very tough," Alguersuari admitted . "I ran at my own pace and then I was stopped with a brake problem.
