After being dubbed 'completely stupid' by BMW's Nick Heidfeld, Adrian Sutil has reacted by defending his actions. The Force India driver, having lost control in a battle with Jaime Alguersuari at Turn 14, spin-turned into his compatriot to remove both cars from the Singapore Grand Prix.
"At the beginning I was stuck behind Jaime and couldn't get by - I had several chances but they didn't stick," the Force India driver explained. "I saw a gap and went for it. Jaime shut the door, we touched and I spun - then Nick came round the corner and hit me."
The closest the younger of the two Germans came to an apology was by explaining how he was blind to any oncoming traffic after the spin. "I am sorry for him but I tried to keep the engine running," Adrian continued. "I didn't see the cars coming because of the barrier and we fly around the corners at speed."
Stewards are launching a post-race investigation into the incident which could lead to Sutil receiving a 10-place grid penalty ahead of next weekend's Japanese Grand Prix for causing an avoidable accident.
