Nico Rosberg made a relatively small mistake when he outbraked himself whilst exiting the pitlane although the repercussions of crossing the thin white line destroyed his hopes of repeating his podium success at the Singapore night Grand Prix.
"I made a unnecessary mistake by braking too late and the safety car came out at the worst possible moment" the Williams driver explained. "I had a horrible feeling, knowing I wouldn't be second when I served my drive-through, and I'd spend the rest of the race at the back."
After having qualified third and shown real race pace early on, his trip over the pit lane curb ruined what was looking like a certain podium finish. Nico remains positive that the Grove team can take the momentum from this weekend and put it to good use at next week's Japanese Grand Prix.
"The team gave me such a good car this weekend, having put more effort into development than anyone else," he added. "Now I'm determined to use this to best advantage in Japan."
