Comments from both the Ferrari and Renault Team Principals practically confirm that Fernando Alonso will be dressed in red next season. The Spaniard, World Champion of 2005 and 2006, could be announced as a Ferrari driver at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.
With most insiders believing the Maranello outfit delayed the 2010 announcement of Alonso whilst monitoring the condition of the injured Felipe Massa, Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali has now half-confirmed the deal.

"I think that, as soon as we are ready, we will let you know," he told Autosport. "We don't want to wait too long." The Italian went on to admit that a 'possibility' remains that the long-awaited news could be made public at Suzuka this weekend.
"I think Fernando will miss Renault and Renault will miss Fernando," new Renault team boss Jean-Francois Caubet added. Meantime, rumours continue to link Poland's Robert Kubica with a switch to Renault and even 2007 Champion Kimi Räikkönen with a possible return to McLaren alongside Lewis Hamilton.
