Ferrari: Massa will not race in 2009

The Ferrari team stresses that Felipe Massa will not be returning to the cockpit this year, despite conflicting stories in the press. The Brazilian, who was injured in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, tested a kart for the first time this week although the team has said that this is in no way a warm-up for an early Formula One return.

As well as driving the kart at the Granja Viana circuit just outside São Paulo on Monday, some reports have suggested that Felipe may return to F1 for his home Grand Prix at Interlagos in just over a fortnight's time.

"There is absolutely nothing true in this story," confirmed Ferrari press officer Luca Colajanni. "Felipe's recovery is proceeding in a very positive way but there are no plans to accelerate his comeback."
