Alguersuari uninjured after qualifying shunt

Thankfully, Jaime Alguersuari walked away unaided after a qualifying accident at Suzuka on Saturday. The Spaniard went straight on at the Degner Curves to suffer a head-on impact with the tyre barriers.

Having run wide into the first part of Degner, the unfortunate driver from Barcelona was unable to wrestle control of the car.

"I'm fine, I just lost the car going into Turn 9," he explained. "There wasn't much we could've done, I didn't have soft tyres anymore. I lost the car - the car looks very bad but I'm fine; the crash was hard but we can race tomorrow and hopefully we can start from our grid position (as opposed to the pit lane)."
