Rubens Barrichello will begin the Grand Prix from fifth on the grid, two places ahead of main title rival Jenson Button. Although both Brawns struggled to perfect the set up of their cars, the Brazilian was able to take a better result of the two from a bad situation.
With both Brawns struggling with heavier fuel loads, Barrichello admitted to report that his pace on lower fuel loads was not able to match Button's and played down his chances of staying ahead during the race. "My times in Q1 and Q2 were slower than Jenson's which isn't ideal. So, I'm not in as good a position as him," Barrichello said.
In a qualifying session that contained a season high three separate red flags, Barrichello believed the tracks gravel traps and curb's had a part to play, but admitted his liking for Suzuka, "This track is equal with Spa and Silverstone. With inexperience drivers this track is pretty dangerous still!"
