Heidfeld 'very disappointed' with sixth

Nick Hedifeld drove his BMW Sauber to sixth place in the Japanese Grand Prix, collecting points and out-pacing his highly rated team-mate Robert Kubica.

Despite picking up three points, German Heidfeld believes that he could have done better at Suzuka, if not for minor errors at a pit-stop and an untimely late-race Safety Car. "Fourth place was within reach but several things went wrong today, especially at the second pit-stop when the right-rear wheel nut got stuck." the veteran explained.

"These things can happen, and normally we have very good pit-stops, but that was when I lost a position to Kimi (Räikkönen)."

Heidfeld also finished behind the Williams of Nico Rosberg, which benefited from the Safety Car period. "Today was not our lucky day," Nick continued. "I'm very disappointed with this result; when the Safety Car came out I lost another position to Nico, who refuelled while the safety car was out.

Team-mate Kubica also struggled with circumstances but eventually finished ninth, feeling he could have achieved more for the team. "The entire weekend was unlucky for me," the Polish driver began. "Yesterday I was spoiled by the red and yellow flags. Today I was stuck in traffic a couple of times. The car was understeery and I was then very unlucky with my first pit-stop, which cost me time. Also, after the Safety Car period, I was stuck behind Jenson (Button)."
