Felipe Massa will finally get his hands on the wheel of a racing car again on Tuesday when running a GP2 contender for the first time since his peculiar and life-threatening accident in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying. However, Ferrari has now announced that the Brazilian will soon be driving the team's 2007 car in Italy.
Still recovering from the accident in which an 800g steel spring struck him on the head at speeds of approximately 170mph, Massa will drive a GP2 car at Jerez on Tuesday this week with a test in the title-winning Ferrari F2007 coming at Fiorano in the near future.

"I don't know yet," responded Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali when asked to pinpoint an exact date. "We will decide this week because Felipe will come to Maranello; he will stay with the team this week - he will go and do some training in the simulator and physical training in Maranello - and then we will decide when to do this."
The Italian also clarified that the test does not conflict with the new-for-2009 in-season testing ban. "We asked the FIA to make sure that the there is no breach of any kind of sporting or testing regulation and this gave us the clearance for this kind of test," Stefano confirmed. "It means that, when we are ready, we will do a test at Fiorano with an 'historical' F2007 car with no changes - just the customer car and GP2 tyres."
