During his days at Ferrari, Rubens Barrichello vowed never to retire from Formula One until a home Grand Prix win in Brazil was under his belt; now with his best chance since 2004, the Paulista is thinking more of race victory than championship calculations with only a pair of Grands Prix remaining this season.
Heading into Barrichello's home race at Interlagos, the Brawn driver lies 14 points in arrears of team-mate Jenson Button with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel only 2 behind himself, in third place. "I've got to go there and win the race, that's the aim - the rest for me is just the rest," Barrichello said ahead of next weekend's São Paulo encounter.

"If I deserve to win the championship, I will; I'm not going to be in the middle of the race thinking about 'if five plus five is ten…' - I mean, five plus five in Japan was six! I had a 5-place penalty in Japan and, all of a sudden, I was in sixth place! I have no intention whatsoever of looking at the points, or this and that…my intention is there to live in full the race in Brazil and win it."
For the record, even in the event of Button not scoring in Brazil, Barrichello must finish at least 4th in order to keep his title hopes alive. "I'm not there to calculate what I can do - I'm going there to win the race and see what happens later," Rubens reiterated. "The chances of the title are smaller - but not as small as when it was a 26-point gap - so they are very much alive."
