Six hours on simulator for Massa

Six hours on simulator for Massa

07 October 2009

Felipe Massa's Italian visit continued with a six-hour stint on the Ferrari simulator on Tuesday. The Brazilian, who arrived on Monday in good spirits following cosmetic surgery after his Budapest qualifying crash, made best use of the systems in Modena as preparations for a return to the real cockpit continue.

With Brazilian Massa set to soon test a 2007 Ferrari ahead of a race return next year, he is pleased with Tuesday's progress. "We worked very well, without any problems," he reported. "The simulator uses an A1GP single seater, so it's not exactly like Formula One, but pretty close - I drove on the track in Barcelona to avoid creating an even bigger test atmosphere."

A trip back to team headquarters in Maranello later in the day included a gym session and response to fans' questions online. 'I miss Formula 1 a lot: it's my passion more than my job,' Massa wrote. It was hard to stay in front of the TV and watching the team, also because I had to get up very early because of the different time-zones!

I've been always in contact with (Stefano) Domenicali (Team Principal) and with the boys to keep me updated about what was happening on the track and at home as far as the next year is concerned.'

The Paulista will continue with another day on the simulator on Wednesday although Ferrari have confirmed that no running in an F1 car will be taking place this week. Felipe will also be present in the Brazilian Grand Prix paddock for his first F1 weekend since Hungary.
