Toyota driver Glock suffered an unfortunate crash during qualifying at Suzuka last Saturday, thus causing him to watch Sunday's race from the garage with a wounded leg. According to Toyota, the injury will not be healed on time for Timo to compete in Brazil, with practice starting on Friday.
Furthermore, medical checks have revealed a cracked vertebra for the regular team-mate to Jarno Trulli.
"I hope both Kamui Kobayashi and Kazuki Nakajima will do well at the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix and finish with a good result there," Toyota Motorsport Team Principal Tadashi Yamashina revealed to GPUpdate.net at the Tokyo Motorsport show on Sunday.
Also speaking at the event, Kobayashi added: "I will do the best I can at the Brazilian Grand Prix and try to score the best possible result for the team." With Glock having contracted air conditioning flu upon his arrival in Japan, Kobayashi took the reigns in Friday free practice although running time was limited due to rain.
Kobayashi will therefore become the 25th driver to compete in a Formula One race in 2009.
