Kamui Kobayashi enjoyed his first 'proper' Formula One practice sessions in Brazil as the Japanese driver drove on a Friday for the second time in a fortnight. After replacing an ill Timo Glock in the washed-out Suzuka sessions, the Japanese driver is back as the German recovers from injury.
With Glock having suffered air conditioning flu in Japan before crashing heavily in qualifying, subsequent injuries have kept him out of the Brazilian Grand Prix, thus allowing Kobayashi to make his F1 debut.

"It was a nice experience, to be starting a weekend as a Grand Prix driver for the first time," the Toyota reserve driver said at Interlagos. "It was also the first time I had driven in Brazil and I found that the track is good fun for a driver but also very challenging.
"Our work went well but the weather wasn't perfect, with the showers meaning the track surface wasn't consistent; that made it difficult to judge the setup properly or fully learn each corner because the conditions were changing during the sessions."
