Vitantonio Liuzzi learned what it was like to crash a Formula One car when driving in a straight line at Interlagos on Saturday. The Force India driver, whose car aquaplaned on the start/finish straight, first collected the pit wall before narrowly missing Kimi Räikkönen and ending his day in the Turn 1 barriers.
With a delay having already occurred before Q2, many argued that the session should not have been started as Liuzzi's crash brought out the second red flag of the day.
"I wasn't expecting something like that because I was just being calm, following Kimi on the track so that I could see his lines…and if there were any puddles," innocent victim Liuzzi explained to reporters.

"I just lost the car on a big puddle in the middle of the straight - I didn't even touch the brake at all, I'd just backed off on the straight…it's just part of the game, unfortunately.
"The problem here is that you get lots of rivers (with Interlagos' many elevation changes) and it was pretty dangerous to go out; it was risky but it was okay - the problem is that, because it's qualifying, you can't wait to go out on track because that wastes time - it happens."
