What might have been for Rosberg

17 October 2009 / Results / Photos

Having looked like a favourite for pole position throughout qualifying in Brazil, Nico Rosberg will start Sunday's race from the front half of the fourth row. Despite flying on Intermediate tyres during the second phase of the session, the German was unable to produce such good pace in the final part of the grid-deciding session.

In a qualifying session which saw the field tested with light and heavy rain as well as a drying track towards the end of the much delayed period, Williams was the only team to see both of its cars enter Q3.

"It was good to see that we were fastest on the Wets throughout qualifying," Rosberg commented. "Unfortunately, however, I think we just weren't quick enough on the Intermediates.

"We weren't able to warm up the front tyres enough so they didn't work properly, which ultimately hurt our pace. Still, seventh is a position from which we can hope for a strong race tomorrow."
