Ross Brawn was left struggling for words when Jenson Button crossed the finish line in fifth position at the Brazilian Grand Prix to become the tenth British World Champion. The Brawn GP team also sets a record by picking up the Constructors' title in its maiden season.
As both titles were wrapped up for the British outfit this weekend, Team Principal Brawn was quick to thank the entire team, including those who left when former owner Honda withdrew from the sport last December. "They worked tirelessly through the winter and then had to leave the team when we restructured," the Englishman explained. "I want to say thank you - I hope they enjoy this."
John Button, father of Jenson, was also understandably overjoyed. "It's unbelievable," he told the BBC. "He's going down in history. I just can't get my head around it."
Having purchased son Jenson his first go-kart 21 years ago, emotions ran high on Sunday afternoon ""e we're all crying in the pit," Button Sr. explained the reaction from the team, "and even Jenson was crying on the radio, which is out of character because he's a hard man."
