Having needed a top two position to take the title fight to Abu Dhabi, Sebastian Vettel drove a strong drive from 15th on the grid to fourth in Brazil. Although it wasn't enough to prevent Jenson Button from wrapping up 2009 honours, the German looks to 2010 with confidence.
Vettel was naturally disappointed not to continue the fight in a fortnight but believes that Red Bull Racing will be in contention again next season. "How do I feel? Well, there is one guy happier than me, that's for sure!" a smiling Vettel told the BBC after the race.
"Starting from the back of the grid but still finishing fourth is the maximum we could have done today, really. We should have won it (for the championship battle) but we didn't, unfortunately."
When asked if he was able to keep the championship situation in mind during the 71-lap race, Sebastian replied: "I was focussing on every lap rather than thinking about our championship position. I had to score a lot of points to keep the championship alive. There was a small chance of rain but it didn't come down so it was nearly impossible for us.
"Congratulations to Jenson and Brawn. They did the best job this year and I am looking forward to next year."
