Horner blames traffic for early Vettel demise

Christian Horner has pointed the finger at the mistakes of others coupled with general problems with traffic as the reasons for Sebastian Vettel qualifying in a highly disappointing 16th position in Brazil on Saturday. The German must finish at least 2nd to maintain his title chances this weekend.

With only Jenson Button being able to wrap up the title at Interlagos, as at Suzuka a fortnight ago, Germany's Vettel could be seen angrily throwing his steering wheel out of the cockpit before walking through the paddock with his helmet still on during qualifying.

"It's really frustrating for Sebastian to just miss out on Q2," explained Red Bull Team Principal Horner. "Unfortunately, in the window when the circuit was at its best, traffic or other cars were making mistakes ahead of him, which cost him dearly and he wasn't able to put a lap together at the optimum time.

"Later in Q1, the circuit was in an atrocious state and he just missed getting through to Q2. It's frustrating as, after the delay, you could see how competitive the car was once some of the standing water had moved."

Red Bull Racing must score 1-2 results in both Brazil and Abu Dhabi - with both Brawns out of the points - in order to lift this season's Constructors' crown. Mark Webber has qualified 2nd in Brazil.
