Lauda on Button: Nothing to criticise

Lauda on Button: Nothing to criticise

19 October 2009

Niki Lauda quite literally took his hat off to Jenson Button after the Brazilian Grand Prix as the Brawn GP man clinched the World Champion with one race still to go. With the title having been decided outside of the last race for the first time since 2005, triple Champion Lauda has no doubts over the outcome.

With Button having been knocked in the media for his run of non-wins since Turkey, Austria's Lauda believes the consistent Englishman has nothing to be embarrassed about.

"When you're World Champion there's nothing to criticise," he told the BBC after the race at Interlagos. "He is one of the World Champions now and he did a perfect job.

"He was very conservative in the middle of the season, trying to protect his lead, and he did manage to protect it. He drove a really aggressive perfect race in Brazil, so he can do both sides - you have a really good World Champion back in England again."
