Renault or Cosworth? Those are the two options Red Bull Racing is believed to be considering for engines ahead of next season. With a much-rumoured switch to Mercedes not allowed due to FIA restrictions on the number of customer powerplants used in the field, the Milton Keynes-based team is seemingly presented with a choice of two.

With Renault its current supplier and Cosworth having won the FIA tender to be the standard engine from 2010 onwards, Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that a decision from Red Bull must come before the season finale in Abu Dhabi next weekend.

With Renault supplying its current units, a switch to Cosworth would see Red Bull in association with the same engine manufacturer it used for its first season of Formula One competition four years ago; furthermore, the choice has also been referred to as one between the better fuel consumption of Renault or the greater amounts of horsepower from the Cosworth unit, which will be used by the sport's four new teams and possibly Williams.
