With Frome's Button having taken the title off Tewin's Hamilton, The Daily Mail reports that an all-British line-up for the silver arrows is a possibility ahead of 2010. Vodafone are reported as welcoming the prospect, with McLaren being easily able to increase Button's salary to higher than a likely Brawn offer.
'Any team would like to have two World Champions in their ranks,' a source close to Vodafone is quoted as saying.
"We've talked to a number of drivers," confirmed McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh, with Heikki Kovalainen seemingly likely to leave the team after this season's final race in Abu Dhabi. "It wouldn't be appropriate to say more than that. We'll hire the two best drivers available to us, as we always have."
