Although organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have stressed that racing at night is not a possibility for the event in Melbourne, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is believed to have again sparked talk of the option as race chief Ron Walker continues to play down its chances.

With Walker having already called off any ideas of racing under lights at Albert Park, Ecclestone is quoted by the Herald Sun as still discussing the proposal. "The later we can get the race, the better it is for us," the F1 commercial rights holder said, having already moved the start time back to 5pm for 2009. "Ron and I are talking about all these things."
Walker, however, is unaware of any such deliberations. "I haven't discussed the night race," he said plainly. "The State Government wouldn't allow it; it's not helpful to our marketing programme but Mr. Ecclestone is entitled to his opinion."
The event is already under scrutiny after announcing more losses this year.
