Heidfeld confident over F1 future

29 October 2009

Nick Heidfeld will be racing his last race for the BMW Sauber Formula 1 team this weekend in Abu Dhabi. The German will see his team quit the sport after the final race of the season as BMW announced it will retire at the end of the current Formula 1 season. Heidfeld though is confident he will be racing in Formula One next year.

"We'll be completing our last Formula One weekend here with BMW," he said in the Yas Marina paddock on Thursday. "I hope the team will be still here next year, though - we are much stronger than the new teams which we'll see joining F1 next season and it would be a shame if a team such as this one isn't in F1 anymore."

Furthermore, Heidfeld believes that his own future is secure. "I am confident that I will be racing in Formula One next year," he added. "We are talking with a number of teams about 2010 but I can not reveal the names of the teams right now."
