Sutil works around brake problem

30 October 2009 / Results / Photos

Adrian Sutil had already suffered a rather bruising weekend before even taking to the track in Abu Dhabi, having literally been in a row with Jarno Trulli following their first-lap coming together in the Brazilian Grand Prix two weeks ago. With both men disagreeing over the collision, the Force India man concentrated on the job in hand although technical problems saw the German stuck in the garage for most of Friday's first practice session.

With perhaps Trulli being the only man pleased by Sutil's Friday problems, the Force India driver recovered in the evening's second session to end the day a respectable 11th quickest, four places higher than team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi after being 7th in the first 90-minute period.

"The car was performing well today although we have still got some work to do to get the balance right," Adrian explained. "We are missing a little grip on the harder tyre but it's going well with the softer compound, although we are struggling with warm-up on both.

"We lost a little time with a brake problem in the morning but it didn't affect our programme too much as the grip was not really there at the start. At the end of the first I was still able to do twenty-five minutes and two runs and got a good position in Free Practice 1 to follow it up in the second session. The circuit is okay but I miss some of the high-speed sections you find at other tracks."

Adrian added that he does not believe the setting sun, which will also be a feature in the early laps of Sunday's race, will cause many problems.
