Hamilton: It was never easy

Lewis Hamilton was delighted to have clinched pole position ahead of the season-ending race in Abu Dhabi but admits that the feat was not an easy one. With a late challenge from the Red Bull team threatening to make an all-blue front row, last year's Champion returned to the top of the timesheets in the last knockings of Saturday's qualifying sesssion.

Although he may have been unable to defend the title due to McLaren's poor form earlier in the season, Hamilton has confirmed that the Woking team is in determined mood ahead of 2010. "Like I always say, it was never easy but definitely as fun as it looked," the Stevenage man said. "The car has probably been the best it has been all year - it seems to feel quite comfortable on this circuit."

Before going on to praise the brand-new Yas Marina track, Lewis commented that he is not heading into Round 17 with an easy ride in mind. "Anything could have happened," he said of qualifying. "Clearly, we have been very competitive all weekend and car has felt great; it was easy to make mistakes but, fortunately, I didn't so I'm happy with my lap."
