Trulli on lookout for clear racing rules

03 November 2009

Jarno Trulli insists that guidelines must be drawn out in order to cut down on racing incidents. The Italian, who collided with Adrian Sutil on the first lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix, stresses that all drivers must meet to discuss the matter.

With the first-lap smash for the Toyota and Force India having taken both cars plus Fernando Alonso's Renault of the penultimate Grand Prix of the season at Interlagos, the Italian appeared in the Abu Dhabi paddock with several pictures which, in his opinion, showed how he was not to blame for the coming-together.

"I think we really have to stick together and talk and maybe give the FIA some guidelines in order to judge us better," the Italian commented of the sport's governing body. "We still have to understand the way to give enough space to another car when it's trying to overtake you; one move or two moves? Do you have to stick to your line once you decide to move? How soon you want to change your line before getting to the corner once you're braking...there's plenty of things which need to be discussed."

Having added that he is now calm after the incident which provoked fury both trackside in Brazil and seemingly for the following fortnight, Trulli explained that safety is the primary concern. "The FIA can only get a look at what happened - they're not drivers and can hardly judge what happened out there because they haven't been in the car," he continued. "At the moment, it seems like people tend to concentrate only on my accident because of what has been said, but I didn't come here to fight.

"For me, the accident in Brazil is over and I don't have to bring up anything, but I think it's more a case of meeting and discussing several actions of other drivers."
