Alguersuari becomes SEAT ambassador

09 November 2009

Jaime Alguersuari has become a representative of Spanish car manufacturer SEAT. The partnership with the 19-year-old Toro Rosso driver was confirmed with a presentation at the company's Martorell facility, half an hour outside of Barcelona, with the handing over of a León Cupra R.

Having made his Formula One debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Alguersuari continued racing in Renault's World Series this year and, as Spain's second F1 driver this season - and the only one coming from Barcelona - the teenager was seen as a natural choice for the marque.

SEAT's León Cupra R is the most powerful car produced by the company to date, as Alguersuari was handed the keys by Dr. Francisco Javier García of the Board of Directors and James Muir, Chairman of the company.

"I always had an idea that being a Formula One driver meant new challenges and a few perks," Alguersuari smiled on Friday, as SEAT prepares to recognise his future achievements. "SEAT has asked me to be an ambassador for the brand and this brand-new León Cupra R is going to be my personal car - it's a real honour and privilege."

Jaime is yet to be confirmed at Toro Rosso for 2010 although 2009 team-mate Sébastien Buemi claims that, not only he will be staying with the Faenza squad, but that Alguersuari is also expected to be retained.
