Cosworth not worried about new teams

11 November 2009

Cosworth, the engine supplier of Formula One's four new teams for next year, has total confidence that all outfits will make it to the grid for the opening Grand Prix of the season in Bahrain next March.

With critics doubting that all new names will be seen in the Sakhir pit lane at the start of the upcoming season, Cosworth - who will also be powering Williams once again - do not have any worries about the immediate future.

"We are aware of what the teams are doing, both technically and financially, and we are impressed," Mark Gallagher, Cosworth's General Manager of F1, explained to Autosport. "They are doing everything that we would expect of a team at this stage and we have no reason to have any doubts that they will be ready.

"They have all worked hard to fulfil their commitments to Cosworth and on the technical front are behaving in exactly the way you would expect them to. They are asking the right questions and doing a good job of liaising with us on the technical side."

Gallagher went on to say that Cosworth's relationship with those in question makes it 'better-placed than anyone' to make such a comment, describing the new teams as 'very well-respected people' who are all making progress. "There has been a lot of rubbish said about the new teams recently, but nothing we have seen has given us any cause to have any doubts," he added.

With Campos Meta, Lotus F1, Manor GP and Team USF1 all using the powerplants as well as Williams, the number of Cosworth units in the field will shoot from zero in 2009 to ten in 2010.
