Seven thousandths of a second is all there was between Scott Dixon and race winner Ryan Briscoe at the finish in Chicago on Saturday night. The two championship contenders went wheel-to-wheel on the oval as the Australian eventually came out on top as thirteen cars finished within a second of first place.
The 2009 IndyCar championship saw a triangular shootout go right down to the wire. Briscoe was the first man to win in the year although Franchitti stole the title from Champion Dixon in the last knockings. There were plenty of thrills and spills along the way in what has been a truly epic season.
